But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. (2 Cor 4:7-10)
I live in the age of celebrity. I “like” their statuses (even the dull ones,) drop their names, and live in their fame. I want to be the artist, the author, the speaker, and the business leader that everyone knows. I want a name for myself. I want to matter.
Yet, today, this day, there is one here who is far greater than any celebrity. He invites me to eat with him at his, to know him, and to be known by him. This day, I will turn my attention toward him. I will love him and be loved by him.
This day, I will be unknown to the masses. I will be an ordinary vessel treasured by the only one who knows me – the one who made me. Today, in his hidden fame I will live.
